Cochin Shipyard has forged a 50:50 joint venture with Drydocks World–Dubai FZCO (a DP World enterprise) to run and manage the International Ship Repair Facility (ISRF) located on Willingdon Island, Kochi.
Valued at a minimum of Rs 1,800 crore, the ISRF will transition to the new joint venture via a slump sale. The financial structure splits the acquisition cost evenly between cash and joint venture shares. Designed to service both commercial and naval vessels up to 130 meters long and 6,000 tonnes, the facility handles comprehensive dry-docking, maintenance, repair, and overhaul operations. Future milestones include scaling the workstation capacity from six to ten.
Spanning roughly 30 hectares, the Rs 970 crore infrastructure features a 6,000-tonne ship lift, six operational workstations, and 1,400 meters of dedicated berthing space.
